day 18: Kurukulla: Nitya of Enchantment

Om Kurukullayai Namaha

Sun:  23 Aquarius
Moon: 11 Libra, 228 degrees from Sun, Disseminating/Waning Crescent Moon
Inner Moon: transition between ovulation and luteal phase

Moon Vibes:

The Shaman doing the deep inner work of acceptance and surrender. We sense into and through the chaos and crave liberation for self and others. We attune to the mysteries of life cycles, death and rebirth. We lose our sense of self-importance. This phase relates with Lammas. In tantra yoga, this starts surychara, ascending course of the Sun with the out-breath moving upward from heart to throat. Relates with first quarter of the day (morning) and the element is water. In the hero’s journey, this is the return journey. We are feeling gratitude for survival and ready to integrate the gifts from the journey. In the menstrual cycle, this is transition between the high of ovulation and the hormonal shifts of luteal phase.

Moon in Libra

  • Moon in Libra corresponds with kidneys, urinary bladder, urethra, skin.
  • Moon in relational Libra in opposition to sense oriented Venus. Today could help you know the truth by how it feels. Notice how you feel in relation with people and things. Do they nurture your soul, feel neutral, feel depleting, or feel something else?
  • Consider also Moon approaching Juno, the good partner and our ability to negotiate relationship issues.

Nutrition suggestion:

Moon in Libra corresponds with kidneys. Kidney function is a balance of yin and yang. Read here to learn more. Here is a recipe to nourish your kidneys. If you are a kidney patient, ask your doctor before using nettles.

  1. 2 TBLS rosehips, simmered until soft.
  2. Handful of nettle leaf in a quart size mason jar.
  3. Let rosehips cool a little.
  4. Combine rosehips simmer water to nettles jar.
  5. Let infuse between 1-8 hours.
  6. Sweeten with date syrup.

Nourish kidneys with black or dark foods like black sesame seeds, black walnuts and black beans. Also seaweeds.

Ritual:

Call in sacred space, reestablish boundaries, give thanks. Place your right hand over your kidney area and your left palm facing the Moon. Ask for Grandmother Moon’s healing energy to nourish and correct all and any imbalances in the kidneys. Move your right hand to your urinary bladder and ask again. Move your hand to the opening of your urethra and ask again. When you feel complete, ask if there are any tasks or actions you need to take to correct them imbalances. Write them down. Do them.  Close sacred space. Give thanks!

Astrology info to consider:

Mars in harmonious relationship with Uranus, sudden changes to will, desire and focus comes easier.

Mercury/Neptune in Pisces right before retrograde. Very easy to become lost at sea in your own imagination of self. Go there, yes. But remember to come back.

Menstruation cycle and Moon:

What phase of your inner Moon cycle are you in? What hormones are most prominent? How does this relate with outer Moon’s transition between ovulation/full and luteal/last quarter? Remember, your cycle and Moon cycle do not need to match. Read more about the correspondences here.

Dreams:

Here’s a fun reality check for waking life:

Get a blank card and write, “Is this a dream?” Keep it where you can see it and make it a habit to look at it frequently, maybe every few hours. Everytime you look at it, look twice in a row. On the second glance, if the letters are not the same or look different in any way, you are probably dreaming. You can answer by saying, “I am dreaming.” But say calm so you don’t wake yourself up.

What would you want to do in a lucid dream? I like to look for my favorite dead people so I can ask them questions. Sometimes when I ask to meet with someone, they appear. I’ve talked with Bob Marley, Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla, Tupac, and deceased family members. When they don’t appear, I’ll approach and talk to the most unlikely character in the dream. Like plants, animals, or old people sitting quietly by themselves. Kind of like in waking life.
