day 8: Kulasundari: Nitya of Inner-Knowing

Om Kulasundariyai Namaha

Sun:  13 Pisces
Moon: 24 Gemini, 101 degrees from Sun, First Quarter Moon
Inner Moon: days 8-14, follicular/proliferation

Moon Vibes:

The warrior experiencing tension between self and group. Concerned with justice in the organizations and groups. Relates with vernal equinox and Ostara/Easter. In tantra yoga, this is the descending in-breath (prana-vayu) from third-eye to the soft palate, relates with midday and the element is fire. In the hero’s journey, we are taking inspired action, feeling tension and resistance in group efforts, wanting to differentiate. Feeling strong and empowered to cross initiation threshold. Blazing new trails which could become new systems for society. First quarter Moon relates with follicular and proliferation hormones, building up of estrogen, uterine walls thickening, eggs maturing. This phase of lunar cycle can be powerful and exciting. Use it for courtship, dates night, seduction, and rituals that focus on building and growing. Use foods that nurture and support. Warm and comforting foods like root vegetables and curry spices.

Moon in :

Gemini, moving into Cancer by evening.

Ritual:

Tonight, ritualize your pre-bedtime routine.  The first thing I like to do is put my phone away for the night. Phones can be a major distraction and stimulant, it’s best to begin detoxing from screen time at least 1 hour before you close your eyes for sleep. Go ahead and do any last things you need to do on your phone now, reply to messages, set your alarm(if using an alarm also set an intention to wake up before your alarm to start training your internal clock to wake up without an alarm), sometime I play relaxing music or white noise from my phone throughout the night so at this time I would set that up.  Once your phone has been put away for the night, call in sacred space for your bedtime ritual.  Choose one or all of these pre-bedtime practices:

  • Making and drinking Dream Tea.
  • Slow gentle stretches, I recommend forward folds for calming, legs up the wall for relaxation, and supine twist for detox.
  • Practice consciously breathing slowly and rhythmically. Full nourishing inhales and complete cleansing exhales.
  • See more pre-bedtime practice suggestions in the Dreams section below.

Close the sacred space of your pre-bedtime ritual just before getting into bed. Give thanks and ask for your guides to offer you insight in dreams tonight.

Astrology info to consider:

Celestial bodies are not gendered. Moon, Venus, Sun, Mars are equally reflected through male and female bodies. Just as an organ in the body who isn’t getting adequate blood supply would begin to get toxic, so does the archetype we reject (by choice or neglect) begins to become toxic.

Venus/Uranus getting closer ::speedily shifting:: our relationship with resources, sense pleasure, our attractions and sensual relationships. What we value and how we value ourselves is changing.

Lilith/Chiron traveling together and forming a 90° angle to both ends of the nodal axis: wild, rejected, abandoned, wounded parts of humanity that we pushed to the fringes come back into awareness for integration. This is a bigger topic that I will continue to approach.

Menstruation cycle and Moon:

What phase of your inner Moon cycle are you in? What hormones are most prominent? How does this relate with outer Moon’s transition between bleeding and follicular/proliferation? Remember, your cycle and Moon cycle do not need to match. Read more about the correspondences here.

Dreams:

Don’t bring stress from the day to bed with you. This can lead to stressful dreams and avoidance of doing dreamwork. Set up a nightly routine, just 20 minutes or so, to get grounded and bring closure to the day. Here are some ideas:

  • Take a shower or bath with emphasis on cleaning your hands and feet.
  • Light a candle and practice fire gazing for 5-10 minutes.
  • Write in a journal for 5-10 minutes.
  • Read poetry or non-work related, pleasurable material.
  • Any sustainable practice that feels grounding to you.

Go to bed relaxed and ready to do dream induction techniques.
