Lalita day 0: Kameshvari, Nitya of Desire

Om Kameshvaryai Namaha

Sun:  4 Aries
Moon 4 Aries, new Moon exact time, 2:28 am
Inner Moon: days 1-7, low progesterone, low estrogen, bleeding

Moon Vibes:

The ambiguous presence that brings gifts of creative potential. Now that we are in the darkest phase of the Moon cycle, the obscure vision makes for re imagining new possibilities. This phase is where we plant new seeds of intention. New Moon relates to Winter Solstice and Yule. In tantra yoga, this is the merging of Moon and Sun from third-eye to crown of the head. In and out breath unite at the crown of the head in breath pause (kumbhaka) where the magic of integration of opposites happens. In the hero’s journey, this is the call to adventure. The phase of the inner Moon cycle related with new Moon is menstruation. Low progesterone, low estrogen and bleeding is present. Take time to rest and reflect. Great phase for receiving dreams and insight. Use foods with higher protein, nurturing, and easy to digest.

Ritual:

Aries New Moon Ritual

Creating your Altar for the Aries new moon:

  • Choose a location in your home to set your altar, this will be the space you will come to each night for your moon ritual.  It may be a small table or any surface area that you can sit and/or lay down near.
  • Gather your materials… tonight you will need your dream/moon journal, a writing utensil, a candle, and any other items that feel sacred to you and that represent your intentions for this Moon cycle.
  • Set up your altar space by cleaning the surface for a fresh start, you might like to place a sacred cloth down as your foundation.  Set up your altar with intention in every step, light your candle and place your other sacred item.

Now your altar has been created, call in sacred space for your ritual.  Open sacred space by asking aloud or within your heart and mind for all your awareness to land here in this space and asking your spirit guides to support you here.

  • Begin with some reflections in your journal, take note of your current state of being.  How are you currently feeling? What sensations are currently present in your body? Be spacious in this reflection, allow whatever is to be.
  • Pose the question for yourself in your journal… “What do I desire to create and cultivate this cycle?” Do not answer yet, set journal aside.
  • Practice candle gazing for 5 minutes, set a timer!  The technique of fire gazing is simple, fix your gaze on the flame and allow it to be your single point of focus, if passing thoughts should arise imagine them being incinerated by the fire, continually maintaining focus on this flame itself. Trust the power of this practice also has the ability to burn away any impurities within the body-mind that are no longer serving you.
  • After fire gazing for at least 5 minutes, drop your awareness into the space of your heart.  Close your eyes now and imagine the same flame at your heart center.  You might place one or both palms over your heart to anchor your awareness here.  Now gazing within, follow your steady rhythmic breath in and out of you heart, imagine your breath fanning the flame within your heart. Spend as much time her as you like.
  • Now return to your journal and read the question aloud. Pause after your speak the words of this question aloud and notice what arises from the space of your heart, be open to whatever comes.  Repeat the process until you feel you’ve accessed a clear answer from your heart.  You’ll know you are listening to your heart when the message arises as an embodied feeling of desire igniting warmth in the space of your heart. Write it down. Whatever your heart desires at this time, create an “I am…” statement out of it.  Use positive, present tense.  This is a seed of thought.
  • Plant your seed of thought within the fertile soil of your embodied gratitude.  Take a moment to recall the feeling of gratitude in your body, remind your self if all that you have to be grateful for in this moment.  Remember gratitude in this moment as a feeling, not just an idea.  Once to have remembered gratitude within, bring your seed of thought back to the center of your awareness.  Breathing full deep breath, feeling inhales pour in from your crown, through your heart, and into your pelvic bowl.  Imagine bringing this seed into your body on the inhale and as you exhale trust your body to bring nutrients to this planted seed. Just as you would release a seed into the darkness of soil in your garden, release your seed of thought into the dark space within your body, letting go and trusting in the wisdom of the growth process.
  • Finish your ritual with final reflections in your journal and preparing your space for sleep and dreamtime.  If you are not going straight to bed from here, close sacred space by giving gratitude to your spirit guides.

Menstruation cycle and Moon:

What phase of your inner Moon cycle are you in? What hormones are most prominent? How does this relate with outer Moon’s new phase? Remember, your cycle and Moon cycle do not need to match. Read more about the correspondences here.

Dreams:

Thoughts and dreams are like seeds. We can consciously plant them, tend to their soil, and give them the love they need to grow. Are you consciously planting thought and dream seeds? For tonight’s dreamwork, we’ll write the dream seeds we are planting and incubating for beginning this 3rd lunar cycle. If you don’t have a dream journal yet, any paper will do. Once you write this out, keep it near your bed with a little light source. Know that these seeds will flourish.

“I dreamed this up, I can dream it down.”

A phrase I use when I find myself in a dream I’m done living.
