Kali day 5: Virodhini: Nitya of Self-Acceptance

Om Virodhinyai Namaha

Sun:  21 Taurus
Moon: 17 Capricorn, 236 degrees from Sun, Disseminating/Waning Crescent Moon
Inner Moon: transition between ovulation and luteal phase

Moon Vibes:

The Shaman doing the deep inner work of acceptance and surrender. We sense into and through the chaos and crave liberation for self and others. We attune to the mysteries of life cycles, death and rebirth. We lose our sense of self-importance. This phase relates with Lammas. In tantra yoga, this starts surychara, ascending course of the Sun with the out-breath moving upward from heart to throat. Relates with first quarter of the day (morning) and the element is water. In the hero’s journey, this is the return journey. We are feeling gratitude for survival and ready to integrate the gifts from the journey. In the menstrual cycle, this is transition between the high of ovulation and the hormonal shifts of luteal phase.

Moon in Capricorn:

Moon in Capricorn today, will be at same degree as Pluto by 1030pm. Moon/Pluto at 120° angle with Sun. Energy from Sun easefully illuminates the mystery of Capricorn Moon moods, dreams, secret longing and inner reality. The heart of collective Capricorn (authority figures/government) has been undergoing deconstruction. Today, we feel our inner authority and allow Taurus Sun to light the path at ground zero. How do you feel? What does your inner authority look and feel like? Are you ready to start building anew?

Astrology info to consider:

Saturn goes retrograde at 1° Aquarius today. Collectively we reconsider who is the boss. “Who’s your big daddy.” Who is making the rules we are living by?Mercury and Jupiter in harmonious aspect. Communication from beyond the glare of Sun connects gracefully with Jupiter, our inner guru, bringing golden light, abundance, and blessings through our ability to choose mental focus on things that feel good. We are creators of news media, not consumers.

Mars in 120° to North node. Ease and grace in evolution and progress of our masculinity, force and drive.

Mars and Mercury at 90° can feel like inner conflict around masculine approaches to thinking and communicating. Also creating new ways to do this.

Venus/Vesta and Neptune at 90° can feel confusing and also dispel cultural myths around earth’s beauty, abundance and the intimacy we have with earth and resources. In our personal lives, this touches our dreams for intimacy with nature and each other, the art and beauty we create.

Nutrition suggestion:

Burdock root is known as bear medicine because bears dig up the roots after hibernation. This is a root chakra plant medicine, a nutritive blood and bone builder, grounding, and moves liver chi stagnation which makes it helpful for spring. Also called gobo in Asian markets, this root can be eaten fresh, dipped in pesto or hummus. My favorite way of using burdock root is as a decoction. Here is a recipe:

  • 6 cups pure water.
  • 1 tbsp dried burdock root.
  • 1 tbsp dried cinnamon.
  • 1/2 tbsp dried ginger.

Bring all plants to a rolling boil and then simmer with lid on until water turns brown. Cool, strain, add honey and hemp milk. Enjoy as a tea. Remaining plant matter can be used one or three more times.

Ritual:

Moon in Capricorn with Pluto and Jupiter tonight, Saturn stationing retrograde in Aquarius.  Today and tonight think about how you are the author of your life.  Define your boundaries around how you are writing your story, who are you writing yourself to be?

  • Call in sacred space, call in the energy of Capricorn imagine  a circle of grandmothers around you.  Call in your spirit guides to support you here.
  • Reflect in your journal… think of all the ways you have already grown to view authority in your life.  Who or what has taken on an authoritative role in your life? How has this evolved over the years.  Think of the circle of grandmothers and grandfathers around you and what views they had of authority and how they passed this down to you. Who in your life do you view as authority?  Who’s advice do you take and why?
  • Notice where you may be clearing out old ideas of authority that are no longer in positive correspondence with you and see what you need to do to ritualize this clearing and releasing.  Maybe burning paper you’ve written on like we did on the full moon or a ritual cleansing bath? Do you need to do to feel like you have full let go of these old ideas. Step into your new philosophy of authority with wisdom of the past and clarity in the present.
  • Conclude in gratitude.

Dreams:

Thoughts and dreams are like seeds. We can consciously plant them, tend to their soil, and give them love to help them grow. Are you consciously planting thought and dream seeds? Or allowing seeds to be planted from outside your conscious awareness?

For tonight’s dreamwork, write the dream seeds and thoughts you are planting and incubating. If you don’t have a dream journal yet, any paper will do. Once you write this out, keep it near your bed with a light source and pencil nearby to take notes on dream recall. Know that these seeds will flourish

Menstruation cycle and Moon:
What phase of your inner Moon cycle are you in? What hormones are most prominent? How does this relate with outer Moon’s transition between ovulation and luteal phase? Remember, your cycle and Moon cycle do not need to match. Read more about the correspondences here.
